Recently got hooked up with a guy with a water jet machine a d he's cutting pieces to build a motor all except for shaft. Here's my problem I have a 18.5 Briggs vertical shaft very strong motor but I like the simplicity of having a horizontal shaft with a poly chain. Anyone out there ever turn vert-horiz successfully or built a vertical shaft motor at home don't really want to go out and buy a 5-6 thousand dollar unit when I can built myself just wanting to know if I can convert motor or have to use the horizontal I have it's only a 13hp |

had a guy on here selling a lower unit off a prodrive. from what i read, you would need a tower bushing setup, clutch and some other things, but its a start. |

^that is basically just the gear housing, need a whole lot more than some bushings and a clutch... |

By the time you machined/cast all those parts, you could buy a whole pd. |
