both

One hour in the drive way ,one hour on the water.

Andy Johnson , the one and only Boat Dr. put it in , along with evt push rods, connecting rods ,pistons and roller rockers. It was all evt no mixing of parts. Engine had just 10 hours on it at that time.

The cam looked like crap before the install , broke in two between the lobes, and had another lobe peeling off. It was a piss poor weld job, by Precision cam . If you want photos I try to post later next week.

Post subject:  Re: Can you say cam shaft?

I called evt and spoke to robert who told me they all look like that, and promised I would not have trouble with it. I waited about a Month to get one , and had about 2 weeks before duck season was to open. I took him at his word.

There are some here who think I a-hole for bringing this up.

I spent $17,000 on a new rig , the new GDSD had 10 hours on it at the time we put the cam and other EVT internals in. Add a additional $3000 for stage 3 to the $17,000 grand for a tolal of $20,000. It did not make opening week. EVT did not have a cam. A BPS cam was avaible for about $300.00. I pulled her down, Andy put her back together.

I put about 10 hours on her and she ran strong. My Valves cam in so I pulled the heads. When the damage to the cyl showed up, my friend
the Boat DR bailed on me. It cost me a friend ,

I called to EVT looking for oversize pistons got me no where.

Andy was not returning my call at this point.

Mica at BPS got me some 20 thou oversized piston, they required longer rods. $600 more in parts $ 300 in boreing and shop time.

That was a very expensive cam . I lost a friend , a couple grand, 1/2 of the season.

I did get a lot of the old runaround ,and somehow it must be my faught.
Priceless !!!!

I can"t spell check on this lap top excuse the spelling.

Running quite well. 31.5 is top with just me and 29.5 with another guy and fishing load.Thats on heavy 20x60. Working on jetting, and prop.i am turning 4750+ and not gaining speed over 4550. The prop had a blade out repitched to 14 . I am running the 3 blade GD.

Post subject:  Re: Can you say cam shaft?

I got all I can get out of her. The BPS cam is not as radical as the evt.
I have been running stock gd 3 blade and a smaller pulley up top for hole shot, and power. RPM's were running 4750 (29mph-31.5 MPH depending on conditions) with a 1.5 mph speed gain past 4550 ( about 27 mph depending on conditions)

I went to see baggy and my new prop had one blade out just a little,
I added 2 " of pitch making it a 14" pitch. RPM went down to 4550 and top speed are 29-30 MPH depending on wind. I get a little knock at take off if I slam to WOT. Fuel air gage says I am running a tad richer.

I am going to grind a little more cup into the prop, and I have to change the trim tabs to a larger size. I have them bent up so much it spitting water back at me and causing drag. I may get a 1/2 mph from this.

The boat is running high with most of it out the water, I could maybe get
a little more out of a 2 blade chopper style prop If I wanted to run more RPM. With all the BS and down time after the cam failed , I don't won't to push it to much harder.

Is any body getting more than 30 out of a 20x60?

to recap I am running

BPS- cam, 20 over pistons, rods, and crossover muffler .

EVT -intake, 45mm, roller rockers dual springs, and billet push rods.

Block been decked 10, heads 50. Manley 30 thou over size high flow stainless valves (intake and exh) with tri angle valve seat, with a mild polish and port.
