Post 27HP Kohler help please
Desperately needing some help here. I bought a demo from pro drive in march and have just tried using it three times in 4 weeks. Motor has 49 hours. Started out that when I let off the throttle, the motor will drop down to about 1000 rpms out of the water, It takes about a minute to come back up to 1290 where I can engage the clutch. In the water engaging the clutch when its dropped down to 1000, the motor dies immediately. So I replaced the fuel pump and same thing happened. Took it to a Kohler dealer and they had it for a week and a half. They replaced the plugs, accelerator pump, gaskets, checked for air leaks and couldnt find anything after a week. They then changed the fuel pump and said it was purring like a kitten and handed me a $200 bill saying it wasnt a kohler fuel pump. Paid it just excited to have my motor going. Went out this morning and couldnt even make it to my spot. By the time I was 1000 ft away my battery was dead so had to drag it back. The motor is still dropping off too low after throttle. Today it didnt want to run period. Got it back in the garage and have the same issues. Warm up is out of the picture, still does it after 20 minutes of idling. I have ran all sorts of fuels, changed primer bulb , all hoses, filter and gas tank. KP at prodrive has been more than helpful but really cannot help me being acrossed the country. The temp this morning was 25. Please help, I have a week of vacation to go hunting this week and dont have a boat.

Don't let it idle for 20 minutes, give it some gas to warm it up. They idle pretty rich so if you just let em sit there, you will get the plugs all wet and eventually foul them.

The kohlers are a bit cold natured, but I did not have much issue with mine when it was stock. Warm it up for a few minutes, if it is still idling a little low just give it a lil gas and engage the clutch at 1500 or so, then hammer down, should be running fine and be able to idle after you run it for a bit under load. Once the sun came up, I hardly ever had any issues, only at night and in the 20's or so. It doesn't get too cold down here.

Oh, charging the battery is a good idea. The motor has a small charging system, but it doesn't charge at all until you are turning 2500 or so, and won't keep up if you are running any accessories on the same battery.

X2^^ this

Cold up here and my motor stalled at low idle with the prop engaged (ivo 1000-/+) sometimes lower.
I just spin it to 1500 rpm and then engage the prop and hammer the throttle - works well.

I have noticed they do idle rich....
Cb ^^ is on the money though
