Post PD 36 surging
Hope it's OK to post this on this forum. Yesterday, while running my PD, the engine started surging at high RPMs(only above 3800). Motor was trimmed where I normally run it and it's never done this before as long as I've had a load on it. Only has about 50 hours on it. Plan to call KP tomorrow but maybe it's something stupid that I can check first.

Sounds like ya sucked up some bugturd in the carb. Surges when it runs out of fuel, then chokes itself to stay goin, or at least that's what mine was doing.

If you have a primer bulb on it, pump it when it starts happening and see if its fuel starvation. (i.e. only happens at high RPM)

I'll try that. If that temporarily solves the problem, what's the best fix?

if u put on a vacume fuel pump instead of the pos cam driven stock pump u will solve the problem without having to deal wif a elec fuel pump. :)

Just another 2 cents +/- a cent. I had this problem with my PD 36. Switched to all straight fittings, good hose, good pumpbulb, good filter, good connections and clamps,no kinked hoses. Turns out, I have one of those high dollar metal fuel tanks, the kind you can run accross if a snake was to drop off in the boat,AGAIN. :o Anyhow, when I twisted the vent open(counter clockwise)I was turning it to far counterclockwise, which would choke the vent, just as if I close it(clockwise).TURN VENT COUNTERCLOCKWISE HALFWAY FOR FULL VENT, at least on the metal tanks. Runs fine now.

I changed an inline filter out once and had nothing but problems till I put a second filter on. I had bought 2. Something was wrong with a brand new filter. These things can be finicky for sure.
