 I am beginning to Wonder......
Are mods really worth all the headaches????? Got about 10 hours on my motor with mods and now have a broken case gasket stud, thus a 2nd jacked up case gasket. I love the performance, but I hate all the tinkering to keep it running right. Carry on.

I'm just gonna run a six blade prop, triple performance intakes, and a high definition carborator.

Re: I am beginning to Wonder......
In my opinion some mods are worth it, bolt ons and some minor head work but when you go all out and start digging into the bottom end work I think its only for those that know how to tear it apart and put it back together on there own. Also those that enjoy working on the motor more than they enjoy using the motor. Of course thats just my 2 cents on this subject.
If I do it all over again I will do the same mods as I had on my old rig. Stage 1 heads, exaust, carb and intake. I would probably not do the cam again, but that is still questionable. I would also have Hoyt do the work again because he treated me right the first time and took pride in his work. Never really had any problems other than a adjustment issue in the first hour but if I did he would have fixed it without question.

Re: I am beginning to Wonder......
I haven't had any trouble with my engine but yt did my mods. Seems like everbody who has an engine with trouble are using parts from somebody else.

Re: I am beginning to Wonder......
My Hoyt stage 1 had 300 hrs on it. No prblems ran the piss out of it and brotherinlaw is still running the piss out of it. My stage 3 that Hoyt has built has 30 on it so far and i run the piss out of it. It has a little leak in the crank case gasket but that is all. Ill even go as far as saying he built it 2 dam powerful. 250 pounds of compression in the heads!!! So i think i am the first dude in the mm industry to get a motor made a little less powerful And as far as a better built motor and taking pride in what he builds their is no other mods out their that will touch LIL DADDY CUSTOMS..........And far some i told you so!!!!!

Re: I am beginning to Wonder......
Well mines holding together now that I put 3/8 studs in the crankcase but blewup the clutch this weekend I think with to much weight in the boat, had me wife two kids ,4 dogs 4 48 quart ice chest and 6 2X6X8 treated lumber she broke step but literly smoked after about I got to the camp now it blows fuses on the switch. Its got power but I think to much for the clutch to handle. I knew better but it was one of those going to the camp in a hurry things. Noticed sparks coming out of the clutch once it got dark.
