Open motor, remove old gasket, install new gasket, button up motor.

Repeat as necessary!

I had about 20hrs on mine and it was leakign when i got it. I tightened the bolts down myself and never had a problem........

Its probably because i used a left handed metric torque wrench.

use 3/8 studs instead of the 8mm bolts. Got 32 hours on stage 3 and no leaks yet.

What caused the gap in said block SG? Did you through a rod?

Locktite and a torque wrench. Studs are only as good as the material your putting them in. Also if / when you open it up you'll see in the upper left and lower right an area that will accept a bolt through bushing that has been already machined into the block.

Like MitchV said in the block there is a place for some hollow dowl pins that should of been installed at the factory about .393 size but was not if you ever worked on a old three wheeller you know what I am talking about, Briggs made a bad design when they used the little .250 dowl pins that is close together and the case cover is .375 this gives the case cover area slop which starts to twist wareing out the gasket then causeing the bolts to be lose cause the gasket actually gets thinner to the metal insert then that when it blows. Because when you go to stage 1-3 the tourque is amplified it makes it worse. If you bore the case cover to .375 which it already basically is, except for casting metal left over and tap the 8mm block hole to .375 you have a machined fit that can't twist cause the studs then also act as 11 .375 dowl pins directly accross from each other, this stops the twisting action then stops gasket failure. I did this and haven't had any problems yet though I only got about 32 hours since I fixed it. If it fails I'll let yall know. If I would of had time I would of machined two .393 dowl pins to fit the case/cover and it probably would of fixed it also.

Can't find the photos, but basinlover pretty much summed it up.

I'm surprised none of the MM technicians haven't caught this yet.
