I am new to the mud motor world and am hoping to have my 17x52 Extreme Series GTB and 35 GTR ordered in two weeks. My question is if anyone knows where I can get performance parts for the GTR around the Southeast Texas Area (Beaumont Area). Also if you have any recomendations on what to get. Not looking for a total rebuild but just to get a little extra juice and still be reliable.

To answer you question on what to get. I would suggest a mukuni carb and an exhaust of your chioce. Also keep in mind speed isn't always found in the motor. Experiment locating battery, gas tank, and other heavy items in your boat for best hole shot and where it rides best on plane. I have had 3 Gator Trax boats and would always have a buddy move around in the boat with gps to see what works best where.

After doing some reading yesterday another alternative for a carb may be having your heads worked and porting your stock intake parts. A carb will be around 500.00. You could get your heads done for around 425.00 and get a port kit for around 50.00. I have read(haven't seen personally) that there is alot of power to be gained from the heads. Porting your intake would be a good sat afternoon 12 pack job. That would also be a good foundation for a strong motor if later a mikuni was added.
