I have a 09 36PD bought it used as a demo this summer with 15 hours on it. I've run it about 3 hours and it seems hard to start as in I have to always pull out the choke and crank it for quite a while before she fires off. This is especially true when I first start it, but even sometimes when it just sits for a short while. Now I'm gauging this against my mower which has a 21 kawi and seems to fire up right away after pulling the choke. Background: I have 12 gallon fuel tank up fron in the boat, probably about 20ft of 1/4 inch fuel line new. I always put in a bit of seafoam with my refills and have only refilled once so the gas is not old I did have not changed the fuel fiter from the one that in when I got the motor. No Primer bulb (past experiences have told me not to bother). Motor I believe runs fine as far as RPM,s idle is 1100, top out of water is 4250 and under load 3850. I have not checked the plugs to see what they look like. Looking for ideas? Thanks for the help. ![]() |

Sounds like a plan, mind telling me what model racor you have and what pump? I'm guessing the pump is a bit more then $40? Is this something I can order from PD? or just get at the local checkers. Thanks |

Check out this site this is what I have on my motor!!! Works wonders!!! Its mounted right on my motor where the tilt handle is bolted to the engine, the top bolt the fuel hose can easily be ran out of the way if mounted here.. http://www.allpointsmarineco.com/view/250/601/ |

if your only problem is that it is hard to start then all you have to do is choke the engine and hold the throttle wide open and it will fire right up and then just push the choke back in and let off the throttle. i had to do this everytime when starting my 36PD from day 1. you dont need a fuel pump. |

Nope not at all, she seems to run just fine and like I said I believe the RPMs are normal. about 1100 at idle(which might be a bit high), 4250 out of the water and 3850 under load. Overall it's great. I had 3 guys in the boat this weekend and gear probably around 650 pounds and still getting 22 which seems pretty normal at stock. So all around runs great. I was just trying to find out if this was a normal issue or something wrong with my motor, In the past have been the guy that gets towed in at least once a year ![]() ![]() |

Or just get a primer bulb and carry a spare or a 1/4 male barb in case it goes out. |

I don't see where the "hard to start" comes in. They all do that. I pull the choke, twist the throttle about 3 times and then turn the key and it fires right up. If I have made a run and then shut it off for a period of time I may need to choke it so I use the same routine. Try that, pull the choke and twist the throttle a couple times. I bet it starts right up. If you need a little extra you could pump the fuel bulb. Isn't the Kawasaki a fuel injected motor? |
