I have a 1848 with 1/8 sides and 3/16 bottom. Wide open floor. I have a 35 hp sport. I'm running 29 with just me or a fully loaded boat. I have cam heads and exhaust. What would be the next best mod to get? Just really hoping to see over 30mph.

From what I've seen on here a prop could possibly get you an extra 3-5 mph.

Get a carb and you'll be in the 33-34 range.

On the other site he says he runs the same with 4 people as he does empty. He has no responded as to the Rpms of either. From what I gathered on tos he needs to look into a diffrent prop

Post subject:  Re: Speed

Bc he don't have one and he asked what's a good upgrade. Why not

Post subject:  Re: Speed

So his carb is the problem? Cause I think he said he runs 4 people the same speed.

Post subject:  Re: Speed

Didn't say that. Did I? He asked what a good upgrade did u miss that part? Or u so worried about what goes on over at tos? I haven't made it over there to read this post

Post subject:  Re: Speed

Sorry I haven't responded I haven't been here in a while. Took my boat out this past weekend and still seeing 29 mph solo. Took 3 buddies with me for a total of 4 people in the boat and running 28 bumping 29. From what I've read and seen on here usually people are running a few more mph faster running solo. Just seeing if you guys had any ideas. Also the rpms are right around 4400

is your motor a cdi? who makes your cam? am i the only one who thinks if you are running the same rpms with a load as you are empty there is other things than a 800 dollar carb? maybe trade your cam for a cam with a little more duration?

Author:  bluemadness14 [ Tue Sep 23, 2014 7:13 pm ]

Did you jet the stock carb? Change governor springs? Do anything to the stock carb at all? Is the tuneup right for the heads and cam?

Post subject:  Re: Speed

Yes I have 4700 coils. The guy that did my work said he reworked the stock carb for better flow.

He did jet the carb but he also said he grinded something down where instead of a 90 it was more of a 45. When it comes to carburetors I'm lost
