Post 35hp mud buddy ?
I have a hd sport 35hp. I get 25mph with two guys and little gear. I run it on a 1544 semi V with steel flex. Does this sound right for a stock 35hp? I have the big blade prop with little wear. Also, it doesnt like thick hydrilla it tends to get caught on the lower unit if Im off plane and I have the weed guard. Is this normal? My prop is not sharp but real thick on the edges.

Thanks,

Deadbird8 is the resident MB guru,he will chime in soon enough. The semi V is a mud motor performance killer. The prop sounds like its got a lot of meat left on it.

Speeds sound about right for a short boat like that. Can't help on the weeds, don't get them kind up here.

Sounds about right to me. 15 foot X weight = slow!! semi V probably doesn't help much. I have an 18 ft Gator Trax with a 35 MB and I get good speeds with just me, but under a load 25 is the best I can do.

I had a 16x48 that was a custom built boat and it ran right at 30 empty and 26-27 with a 3 man hunting load,my buddies 14x48 southfork with a 35GDSD ran almost the same with the exact same loads.Yes long skinny is better but that whole short boat will not run shit doesn't fly with me,alot of has to do with the boat and the motor being a good match.

it almost sounds like, on the weed subject, that you are running a tall trasom frame on a short transom hull
