Post stock 35 mb carb
ok i got a carb question. ran motor in the garage last night seem like right side cylinder is running hot ? new stainless exhaust seems to be way hotter on that side than the other . now my question is is it to lean or to fat to make it run like that and if so which way do i turn the adjustment ? it is missing the little plastic piece that snaps onto the screw is missing so maybe it backed out since that piece limits the rotation of the screw ? any help would be appriciated

The cap just limits the movement of that idle mixture adjustment. Its for emissions I suspect. Anyway you don't need it, just bottom out the mixture screw and back out about 1 1/2 turns. Micro adjust from there. Its easier if you slot the top of the brass so you can turn with a screwdriver.

Note- that mixture is only for idle and not WOT. The #2 on these motors runs leaner than the #1- its the way they are built with the placement of the cylinders on the cam. If you look at your carb jets, the #1 is 142 and the #2 is 148 to compensate.

screws w/o caps:
