motor running bad and backfiring

 motor running bad and backfiring
went run ma motor today and it ran like sh!t.. idln' at about 1050 and when put in gear it dies out quick and backfires . not sure if its a bad air/ fuel mix or what.. n e ideas??

Sounds like messed up fuel mix. Ain't backfiring usually too rich? Yer carb might have the swine flu.

Do you use a water filter? If so how old is the filter? Do you use plastic tanks?

It could be carb icing. I've had it happen with temps as warm as 50 degrees. Carb icing is not caused by water in the fuel. It's caused by moisture in the air freezing and building up ice in the venturi of the carb. The solution is getting warm air to the intake so the ice doesn't form. The way you do that depends on the engine you're running.

Did you get it figured out?? if so what was the deal i got the same issue sitting around 1100RPM pop PTo and it dies and pops serious FIRE out the exhaust... Running wide open runs fine??
