Usually the merc trims don't go bad, the older model Thompson, or bear yes. If it's a merc look at switch and relays

If its a Merc trim look on Amazon.com. If its a Bear- Thompson style look on Northern Tool .com the ones manufactured by Acme. They also have the rocker type trim switches. I just replaced a Merc trim pump motor from Amazon #809885A was the one that's a direct replacement $123. free shipping. MB wants $400 for their Thompson actuator you can get it a whole bunch cheaper off of Northern tool. MB doesn't offer any parts for the merc trim. I think they want you to replace the whole unit which is over $800.

If you have the Thompson trim does anyone know which one is the correct one listed on the Northern Tool Site? I have no idea which stroke it would be, but I can assume you want either the 500lb or 1000lb one.

Thanks

On the Thompson style trim, measure your stroke when fully extended, and fully retracked. Should be able to match Acme trim by those measurements. Forgot to mention you may have to drill and tap a grease zirk and a vent tube barb in housing. Old style Bear trim had nether and failed, pretty fast. Thompson trim remedied that, but still fail, replaced a couple of them that were greasable and vented. Generic or Thompson nether are a 100% water proof. IMO

Post Re: MB sport merc trim help
Thanks for all the replies. It defiantly is the newer merc trim. The motor is a 2014. The trim motor sounded really weak a few months back so I took it apart and found 2 or the 4 springs that hold the brushes to the magnet part of the motor broken. So to get me through the weekend I jerry rigged the springs by taking a coil out and straightening it and clipping it back into the little mounts it has on the motor. Hard to explain I guess. But now it went out completely and if I tap it with a hammer I can sometimes get it to move. So I really just need the springs but I will just rebuild the whole motor if that's what the kit comes with. I'm gnarly pull it apart tomorrow and I snap some pics. Thanks for all the help guys it's much appreciated.

Oh and I checked voltage at the trim motor and I have good voltage there so the relays should be good. Thanks
