I PUT A E-4521 IN MY 35 HP MUD BUDDY AND IT FITS GREAT I THINK A 36 SHOULD TAKE THE SAME FILTER.

THE ONLY BAD THING IS THAT THEY ARE A SPECIAL ORDER I HAD TO ORDER MINE FROM AUTO ZONE IT ONLY TOOK A DAY TO COME IN IT COST 38 DOLLARS

when I switched to the mikuni I pulled my k&n out and it was dirty.
Mostly from mud getting sucked into the intake. so you can get mud and dirt in there, but do what you want its your motor, whatever makes you feel safe.

I noticed on my stock filter I have a paper element and a foam wrap around it. Might be benficial to remove the foam?

Werd panty hose works well as a water repellant while muddin.

So which one is it on the 36HP vertical??? I would love to put a K&N on my unit. I think most of the dirt and dust will come while trailering down my states wonderful WMA roads.

I was thinking of just getting a dust cover like a Carb flute cover. While running I do not think you will get much. A filter of some sort seems prudent. I worked for Donaldson Filter and you would be surprised what is in the air.

I do think a VERY free flowing filter is the way to go. Just the Foam wrap on a blank fliter housing( take the paper out) would be enough.
Mine has oil on it from some engine work and I need to replace it. I want to go order the K &N.

I just ordered the E4521 from amazon.com for $28.55 free shipping and no tax. had the E-4665 in my 18 mb, put it in my 35, it was loose. that's all I know. I will try the E4521.
both briggs 18 and 35 take the same stock type air filter.

So which # filter is it? and can you see a difference?

I bought the E4521 first from Amazon, and the stock air filter housing on the PD will not close all the way with this filter. I returneed it and got the E4665, and it fits perfect for the PD 36.
