Hopeing & Looking to hear from the MMT GODS!! Running a 18x46 GTB draggin a 35 GTR w/ only 14 hours & the pin is in the TOP hole.... marshmellow muffler, mikuni carb, bps intake adapter, port & polished heads Let it be known that this has nothing to do with gator-tail.... All problems occuring are powerhead related issues! 1st - I DID have the evt intake prior to swapping with a buddy for the bps adapter & the motor ran horrible on the bottom end, but I was able to turn around 4250 rpm's on the top end and run a consistent 32.5mph with myself (210) and a buddy (195) with the evt intake. I needed the motor to run right on the top end and just as good on the bottom end, so I swapped to a bps adapter. With the bps adapter I got my bottom end back but I am having a hard time turning 4000 rpm's with the same load and having a hard time running 30mph. -My question is there any way for me to adjust the carb to turn more rpm's or any other tricks to get some speed back? 2nd - When running wide open throttle for a around 20 minutes or so, sometimes the rpm's start bouncing up and down back and fourth like the motor is missing or running out of fuel and getting it back. Sometimes it works itself out, other times the motor starts loosing rpm's and doesnt stop, it goes from whatever im running wide open, which is usually 3800 - 4000 rpm's and it will drop to 3200 - 3300 rpm's in about 10 seconds. Once I get out of the throttle and idle for a second and then get back into it, it seems to run fine. When everything starts going to crap with the rpm's, the primer ball is hard as a rock, the fuel filter has fuel in it and the vent is open on the tank. I only run shell 93 octane. -Any suggestions?? 3rd - Just because of my bad luck and my motor hates me, I didnt do any internal mods just because of the fact that I didnt want my crank case gasket to start leaking like everyone else with mods. Yeah well so much for that great idea because the DAMN thing started leaking @ 7 hours on a brand new power head!! Everytime I go out in my rig something happens to where I have to turn a wrench, now I have a bag of tools in my boat!! Thats the reason I purchased an air cooled shallow water surface drive was because I was tired of working on my mudboat with a subaru in it! I feel as that I'm in the same situation!! For example, this morning I'm on my way back to the launch from hunting and I was running wide open through the lake and everything was going smooth, UNTIL I hear a rubbing noise, I look back and to my amazement, I get the opportunity to witness the honeycomb screen in front the motor tearing my plastics up and throwing plastic shavings all over the place. 2 out of the 3 studs that hold the honeycomb screen in place have felt the need to shear. Turning a wrench once again!! 14 hours on the power head.... I THINK I HAVE THE LEMON OF ALL LEMONS!! WHATCHA THINK ABOUT THAT?? I have a good mind to go hunting in the morning and go to the deepest part of the lake and pull the plug!! Thanks for allowing me to VENT and relieve stress!! COMMENTS APPRECIATED |

Take off your Mikuni and reinstall the stock carb setup. Then you can get the oil leaks and cowling/screen issues covered under warranty. Reinstall the M-carb and go! |

x2 ON WHAT DB8 said! check your throttle cable & linkage. make sure de slide is opening up all the way. try putting an electric fuel pump inline for your fuel issue. cheer up! quite a few of us has been down dat road before ![]() |
