The plug between the ignition harness and the rest of my wires is dry rotted. Wires pulling out and corroded.
Before I took everything apart I had power to the ignition.
Can anybody tell me what to do to bypass the plug? What wire goes to which? Or should I just buy a new harness. Was really wanting to get it on the water this weekend.

Think he is in Griffin GA. I had to replace that part, think it was $17.00, entire harness.

That appears to be the only thing inexpensive to replace/repair on these motors.

Used to hunt on a lease in Thomaston, GA to awful far from there. Only had a few Canadian geese and mergansers. Was loaded with deer, turkey, and coyotes. There was also a Chitlins Festival (yuck) that went on near there.

If its the old style big black and white plugs- its not UV resistant and will rot just from the sun. Just add butt connectors on it in place of the big plug, all color wires continue on the other side of the plug (see diagram below). I would just get rid of that plug and not replace it.

If you have your heart set on replacing the harness, I'd replace it with the Deutsch connector (gray square one) harness that the Marine motors use. On the IPL look for type 194 or 218 and get that part number.

MB has wire diagrams for all their models which include the Briggs wiring- this may help you:

My wife and I went to Thomaston to pick up a shit eating lap dog and there was a sign for the Chitlins Festival. My wife asked "what the hell is a Chitlin". I told her "cooked up pig intestines". She then asked "who the hell eats that". I told her colored folk or Hispanics primarily.

It's the chitlin hoe down in yatesville. You can smell the town from miles away. I lived in Thomason my whole life until recently.

That is it the Chitlin Hoe Down.

I live in Okeechobee, Florida. I have hunted up there on a lease, but that was many years ago. The property owner's last name was Brown. I recently took my wife up there to pick up a Papillion (fancy shit eating lap dog) from a farmer that just happened to live right down the road from the lease.

When mine bit the dust, I went to this sealed automotive style. Got it from autozone. Came with all the metal clips, male / female ends. been holding up great. Even installed one on my Kawi when we did the swap.
