Post subject: | Gecker Mods |
I thought I would post my results with the Gecker mods. I have added Gecker's Stage 2 stock carb, heads, cam, stainless valves (stock size), air filter/adapter and intake. Total invested just under 2 grand. Merry Xmas to me! Total gains are around 6-7 MPH. Hole shot is night and day, 0-28 in a heart beat. I added the Hopkins Cleaver today and I picked up another 1 MPH, and this pushed my boat at 30.6 MPH deep water down wind. ![]() ![]() I was surprised though that with the Hopkins Prop, my RPM's went from 4050-4150 to 4250-4370. I would like to run at 4100 RPM's or less. I am thinking of adding another degree of pitch to the Hopkins prop to make it a 14. I ma surprised thought hat I am slinging the Hopkins at a higher RPM than the stock prop? ANY THOUGHTS? I know a lot of people have been pretty hard on Sheldon, but I can tell you that he is stand up guy. As an example, I went down to his shop on Thursday, and we worked on the motor from 9-5, and he replaced the cam he put in free of charge, all of the gaskets, tweaked the throttle linkage, etc. b/c he wasn't happy with the gains! He still thinks that there is another 2 mph hidden in the engine, but I am thrilled. He is working on his customer service, and has added another person to help him out. Overall, I am very happy with the work that he does, and I like staying with with the stock parts, just modding them a little...LOL. I would definitely recommend. I bought the BPS Mikuni kit, but I will be returning it and sticking with the Gecker stage 2 carb. I hope this helps. |

I guess I need to do a better job of explaining. I thought you guys were more familiar with Gecker. I can see why my comments could be misleading. I essentially have the stage 2 carb, and Gecker's stage 2 heads with out the larger Valves, Gecker's muffler, and Air Filter system and Gecker's Cam. I am at like a stage 1.5. it is late- and I am going in circles-- look at his site and you will see what I have. That is a lot of work and mods for 1900 bucks. The BPS Mikuni kit alone is 695. |

And your point??? Add heads and EVT exhaust and your in the 1600$ ballpark... Plus you dont get the run around from gecker... |

Post subject: | Re: Gecker Mods |
And Cam at 365, plus air filter adapter and K&N at around 100 for both, modded intake 80, stage 2 carb 265 (Gecker)- 695 BPS), stainless valves I think 80 each. These numbers may not be exact, but Sheldon is welcome to step in and correct me on the prices, or just look at this site. Also, run around from Gecker? How many guys are going to work from 9-5 for free, and then replace all of your gaskets, tweak your carb, and replace your cam for free, b/c they thought the performance gains should have been better? That certainly doesn't sound like the run around! That sounds like a guy who stands behind his product...IMO You guys can find a reason to complain about anything. I think when you add up all of the work Gecker does, and then compare side by side, you will find Geker is right in the ball park, if not cheaper. Also, remember the 1900 includes all of the labor, I never turned a wrench. Plus how many engines has EVT blown up? I just don't get it ...Spend your money how you want, I am very pleased with what I have done. Most guys on this site that I have read have spent 2-3 grand for the work that I have done. You have to compare apples to apples. Then look at performance gains and reliability. Personally I am very happy, but to each there own. |

Just leave a little bit earlier or stay a little bit later and keep your money for gas instead of spending it in Florida |

[quote= LOL I have an idea... Why dont you pay sheldon an extra $100 to find that extra 2 mph thats hiding in your engine. You might have him check under the oil cap. I hear speed hides under those quite frequently. Oh and hey... How convenient... $1900+$100= $2000.... Your right there on the same level as those EVT kaboom engines[/quote] I am not sure what you have against Sheldon, or why you want to focus on how much money I have spent, but you seem to have some issues beyond what I can help you with. I was just trying to give an honest review of my experience with Gecker, and how much it costs is a part of it. If you want to just be an ass- so be it. But you are adding zero value to the post. Your arguments don't even make sense, and you don't seem yet to have a grasp of the work I have done. But you continue on. ![]() ![]() |

First off I'm glad your happy with your recent purchase. Good to hear some positive feed back from them. As for as Carbs go to each there own, But personally I would have kept the Mukuni. Its a hell of a lot more user friendly/adjustable over a stocker. A stock carb modded or not is still a stock carb!) theres no way to open up the choke side. So your still bottle necking your airflow. JM .02 |

Craig- EXACTLY! Finally- someone who get's it!! And I agree, if I can stay with the modded stock components and get the performance gains I AM looking for, sold. The less bolt on's the better IMO. |

SP, dat sounds like a good review to me. I'm glad to see Gecker is gettin everything together and firing on all cylinders now. I know when they first showed up they had a few hick-ups, but hey live and learn right. Glad your happy dat sounds like a good investment. Da real test will be reliability and da results of dat test will come wit time. |

And what should I buy? A piece of shit like you got? And pay 1100 bucks for a muffler and heads? ![]() ![]() I think you've pretty much answered my question. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
