Want to build my own header style exhust??
I want to build my own exhust for a 25 kohler on a long tail. I checked on some Hopkins pipes, Damn Pricey!! If I have to go that way I will but don't want to. I'm sure someone here has built theie own, if not many. I'm looking for options. I can get ss tube and have acsess to a tig welder. I was also thinking of some supertrap mufflers mated with some ss tube. That way you could adjust the tone and back pressure. Thoughts on that?
Any ideas or pictures would be helpfull. I wanna blow out my neighbors when I crank it up, they'll love it! I live on a river so when I fire it up to leave hunting or fishing, I want them to know it's ME!
Also would this increase my performance or hurt it? Waiting for replies, lets see some of your work mud junkies!
I also posted this in the longtail section as thats where I spend a bit of my time. Smoke

Just like the stock but stainless. Sounded good too. You dont need to put baffles in the inside its not gonna hurt anything. If you build one like this use 5in tube its eaiser than rolling some metal. If you need I could mail you some ss flanges. Need any other info just shoot me a pm.

Guess I should have put 4". We had to order some a couple years back for a job. Only used about 5' of it. Never heard of 5" till then. Not common thats for sure. I think we had to get it shipped in from Denmark if im not mistaken.

Re: Want to build my own header style exhust??
You said I didn't need baffles, won't the cold air get into a hot motor and do some serious chit to the valves? I could easy enough put baffles in, but I was wondering why I didn't need em. If it's just for noise, I don't care. I don't mind loud throaty noise! Let me know when you get a chance. Smoke. BTW nice job on the ss muffler 2, looks sweet. Won't rust, which is what I want, plus noise! Small harley sound! S

Re: Want to build my own header style exhaust??
Just an idea, but I recently through a 4 inch long x 1 3/4 drag pipe baffle ($4.99 from JP cycle) into the outlet tube of my BPS crossover exhaust and benched the original silencer. It knocked some of the snap out of the tone and sounds sweet. Not obnoxiously loud and a decent tone overall.
