New to this forum and about to retire and move to Louisiana , despite wife’s negativity I am hell bent to get me a mud boat. I have a buddy in Utah and he recently mentioned Mud Buddy is a getting a new motor V Twin EFI of some 85 HP liquid cooled manufactured in China by a German company and used in drones, apparently the engine will on the market very soon, reason I ask this questions I am not very convinced despite some good reviews of the existing crop of engines namely B&S but still a lawn mower engine and I wanted something different with more power. Does any one of you guys know anything about this ..?
Thanks
Bolton

simple answer,
Buy good used prodrive, pull the B&S off and put a Kawasaki powerhead, if you are set on not having a briggs powerhead.

I also saw a mudbuddy for sale, with an S&S motor I believe.
If you can fab up stuff, you can make whatever you want.
Also, if you will be in Louisiana, Inboard mudboats are pretty popular, and some boats have 454 hp engines in them.
Options are all over.

I wish somebody would hurry up and find a stock motor with 60 to 80hp that is reliable and put it on a mudmotor frame.

The problem is torque. There are plenty of small power plants putting out stupid horsepower, but most need to spool up before creating the torque
