Post Mikuni falling off
Saw a mikuni fall of for the first time this weekend. Prodrive hit a stump in front of me and it just fell off. I've heard stories of these things falling off and guys losing power to turn and hitting trees. One fella in the area had it happen and hit a tree had to medivac his passenger. How often does this happen with these carbs? Not the carnage part but the falling off. Has anyone come up with something to help hold them on other than the boot and hose clamps?

My question is more so how often they come off. I have the stock carb but when it just popped off the PD coupled with the stories I've heard I thought I'd ask the "experts" about how often it happens.

Happens a lot if they arent secured. Its just a hose clamp around a rubber boot that holds the carb. Pretty easy for it to fall out of the boot.

They fall off more times than people talk about.

We make a simple bracket to keep them on

I had it happen once also, keep the inside of the rubber clean and free of fuel residue and the carb flange too, check the hose clamp often for tightness. a Boat Dr fiberglass cover will not let it come off on a horizontal shaft. I saw what Willett did at Caddo and it aint commin off fo sure says Ronbow

They don't fall of regularly, but they can and do. Zip ties, brackets, gorilla tape, boat Dr cover, etc all can keep it from happening. There are other ways. Pretty sure there was a topic with a few options. The zip ties are the cheapest by far once the boot starts losing grip on the carb.

Zip ties and make sure all connections are free of oil. Clean with rubbing alcohol. Can't pull the bitch off then.

I stacked a couple of small pieces of hydro turf between the bottom of the bowl and the top of the block. Adds some cushioned support.

Never had a problem with my set up. Built mine a little too beefy. Doesn't have to be much for it to work.

I saw these type of brackets once on a motor we did some work on and the guy didn't know where it came from so started building them for every carb we put on or that comes through the shop.

Using 3/16 so don't have to worry about the plates bending but have to change the boot mount bolts to longer ones due to 3/16 plate

Plates and stainless bolts installed $50

Plates and bolts by themselves $30

If the manifold flange had the bolt holes vertical, Vulcanworks makes a great setup and it is solid.
