Engine oil leak. Have everything off rear of engine except motor shaft extension and belt gear. How does the extension come off? Unscrew ? Thanks.

It's keyed. Rubber mallet, tap top, bottom, until it works off.

Got it apart. Oil pan is cracked along with oil pump pickup, just hangin there. Wonder if gator tail will cover parts under warranty. 3 years old.

I don't think Briggs warranty is that long

Used to be three years i think. But if it's warranty stuff, they won't want you taking it apart.

I have studs although, we find putting sleeves in is the best. It's most cracked due to bolts loosening and the vibration cracked the pto case

Thanks . Is the best way to drill and sleeve, or drill and put in wider bolts?

Post subject:  Re: Motor shaft extension.

Meant to say drill /sleeve and bigger bolts or drill /sleeve and put in studs.

Depends on who you ask. Not the answer you want, I know. Pick someone to listen to, and let that be the final word for you lol. Amazon, tulsa engines, they seem to have the best price on the case cover. Just look up model and code on partstree.com, make sure you get the right part number, then get to googling to find where you want to order from.

I would get a new cover, Machine the cover or cam and the timing gear. This allows you to use RTV silicone to seal the cover to the block and rid the case gasket. I can get the cover for you and have the work done aswell for you. I also recommend new higher grade FLANGED bolts and torque the cover in 2-3 stages to get to the final torque of 200" pounds with CLEAN threads and Loctite.

X2 on what Maxxis said.

Calen sold me the machined cover and gear as well as the grade 10.5 bolts.
