Copperhead 23hp vs. Go Devil SD 23hp
Looking into these two and just trying to see which one is better. Not very experienced when it comes to surface drives, all i've had is longtails. Looking to put it on a 1548 or 1648.

If you can get a 1648 just go ahead and get a 35. Im a GD fan just for how solid they are. The 23 will work if you keep the load very light, most folks end up needing a bigger motor pretty quick

Then buy used. Most generally wish they had more power. For the small minority, it winds up being perfect. If you'd love the 35 now, you'll always wish or want for that extra power.

It will work on 1548, my bro runs one. Good package but a longer boat is on his want list.

I will tell you like they told me 6 years ago on here.
Get a 35 if you can but if not you can run a 23 for a year then you will end up getting a 35.
Well worth the money!
No replacement for displacement!!!!!

X'2 in what everyone is saying I have the copperhead 23hp and it was neat 5 grand also then it's not enough then you wanna mod it and boom 1500 and now you pay 6500 for a little more power, you really want to get the 35hp

Check the frames out, and see if they could be modified to accept a BB Briggs. If so you could be running your rig with a 23, and down the road if more power is needed you might be able to swap out motors should you find a 35 block. Been there done that on a 18 hp Hyper frame to a BB Briggs.

Look into JB Mudmotors. You can get a 28hp Eli with an electric clutch for less than 5k. I have one on my 15-42. You can find them on facebook
