How much difference did a Mikuni carb and/or Mac exhaust make? |

fuel consumption goes up its easier to dial in a/f your really not going to see a big bump in performance maybe a mph or 2. not really worth adding the carb unless you do heads or cam. |

what does a/f mean? And puddler, are you just addressing the carb in your response, or do you also mean there's no jump in speed when adding a mac exhaust? have you tried the Mac? Thanks man. |

Puddler, are you addressing just the carb when you say "only and increase in a mile or 2mph'? or also the Mac exhaust? Have you tried a Mac? I have a Copperhead 18 and am trying to get more hp from it, and I was told it would vastly improve the holeshot and midrange power, but not sure how it would affect the top end other than it would add 100rpm to the stock Copperhead 18. Thanks. |

He's talking about adding a carb and an exhaust will only give you a mile an hour or two, and without heads or cam, you really won't see big performance gains, I have a mac on my 35 hp and there's really no speed difference, you get little performance gains out of just an exhaust, just helps your motor breath better if you have mods , and it's really loud. Too loud actually |

Stock 23.5 added bps exhaust with stock carb. 24mph with bps intake kit 34mm mikuni 24.5mph Heads decked .025 stainless valves, shimmed springs , port work and billet cam with mikuni carb. 26 All of the above with lectron carb 28.2 at 4380 rpm So like puddler said about 1-2 mph Save the money for a lectron and don't buy a mikuni IMO |

That carb wasn't tuned correctly. Nice to see the gains you got going to the lectron, but jetting and tuning a carb correctly would've proved better results with that mikuni than you were seeing. That's not your fault, as you were sold what was supposed to be right for your engine. |
