Hey guys, I heard Mud Buddy will be releasing a 25efi from Kohler for their mini series. Does anyone have experierence with that motor? Trying to look for the best power/weight ratio setup for my 1654 - its only 415 lbs - so I think I may be able to get away with a mini. |

I'd go with a 35 If you don't, you will wish you did |

That is true. I had a lot of contact with a Mud Buddy rep. The 25 Kohler is also listed in their website. Originally they were going to use the Subaru, but ended up going Kohler. Speaking as a 25 owner – unless you have a restriction to 25hp - I would go with the 35. The aftermarket is there and you can’t beat the extra load carrying ability / power. The 25 Kohler mini 195lbs The 35 HDR looks to weight 295. The 25 HDR can’t weight much less than that 295. |

That's pretty cool! Just some FYI. I looked up a new Mercury 40hp outboard and it has a dry weight listed at 260lbs. |

You may wanna stick with an outboard A mudmotor will tear that transom up, in a hurry. |

I can say this. I hunt a lot of places and rarely get into stumps. My mud motor is most beneficial in heavy vegetation and shallow water. I'd have no problem with that type hull where I live 90%+ of the time, and would still benefit from a mud motor. |

They didn't go with the kohler because it was a better motor. They went with kohler because they can't get anymore subarus until 2017. I have one of the last ones they had built. |

I didn't say Kohler is a better motor. The Subaru seems to have built itself a good reputation. I doubt anyone is getting them come 2017. Did you not hear the Subaru Industrial news? |

Its bearproof, bulletproof, etc. etc. Works great for what I use it for (shallow, very rocky rivers). |
