Most if not of you all are my juniors by decades. I'm retired and on a real fixed income, so bucks don't get wasted. Now you know why I'm asking the following question. I have a 2007 PD and will any 3 position 6 lug switch (that fits) work? I realize I'll have to ring out the switch positions to get everything right to do what I need. I had my control box apart and one lug is super loose, still works but I like to plan on the worst.
Thanks all,

You can pick up a switch at any auto parts store. Want to say they're about 15 bucks. Just make sure you get one that has a contact that rests at ground in the off position. They usually have a small section for lawn equipment and a switch over there that will work. Some automotive switches don't have a "kill" contact, because the ignition runs on 12v and when you kill power the motor dies. That's really the only thing you have to worry about. If it has that contact, it will have anything else you'll need.

So to clarify, you need one for a "magneto ignition" not a "battery ignition".

This should be the same key switch you have.

He doesn't need a choke switch.

That is simply a link that was given to me from KP as the exact switch they were using back then. Just passing it along. Jesus fucking christ.

I wasn't being mean, just saying he didn't need one with that. I don't think the stock switch had one either. Don't know why it would.

Wonder why they would use one with a choke switch. None of these motors have an electronic choke.

Either way, thanks for the info marcus and owen. I don't know why they'd use that switch but it's still good info for someone who wants the exact same switch.

The most important thing anyone should know is whatever switch you buy needs to be for a magneto ignition system.

Probably a better made "marine" switch than that lawnmower switch. But who knows.

It is a part that is readily available from your local Mercury dealer.

I sure didn't want to start a pissing match here. Yet I thank all for the input and that was what I needed. I ordered the Mercury one before the link was even posted. Who knows with my twisted combat infantry mind I might use that feature to sound a horn or fire a bow mounted cannon at pirates

I'm going to go push my key in and see if me or the motor chokes!

Not a cannon at pirates. A 50 Cal at carp.
