 Re: PD Marine ph
He might not need the Stainless muffler! Most of us already have a stainless exhaust! The little change in the charging and flywheel might be a good thing,I don't know!I Never had no charging problems before

 Re: PD Marine ph
From what I have read the only issue with modding them is your still limited to 4200 RPM due to the integral rev limiter. If your engine builder can get the mods to get all the power at that lower RPM then it can basically be modded the same. I am thinking the marine motors will become all about torque since HP usually comes at higher RPM.

 Re: PD Marine ph
dont need the stainless exhaust plus rod says they cannot be modded without having a ton of problems due to the new rev limiter. also DO NOT like the idea of buying it without it standing the test of time. Im just not big on trying something new when there's nothing wrong with the old one.

I don't know about you Shafer, but I personally don't like running over 4200 rpm anyway. I like my chit to last.

 Re: PD Marine ph
Dude I just went with a bps crossover exhaust and am going with the k&n replacement filter. Just with the exhaust Im bumpin 4100 rpms. So with the k&n I should be a safe distance away from the rev limiter.
Last I heard no one has figured out how to get around the rev limiter.

 Re: PD Marine ph
with a K&N air filter and a BPS Q Muffler, I'm turning 4150... this motor stock definitely turns a few more rpm's than the old powerhead.

 Re: PD Marine ph
I believe they started using the marine phs in late 09 to present (I may be wrong on the date, but I know they just recently started using them). And mine has a sticker on the plastic that says briggs marine (or something like that).
We need gary to chime in and tell us how you can deffinately tell!

 Re: PD Marine ph
Well, I know for sure now I don't have a marin PH I guess it was a novel concept to make a "marine" style motor for mudmotors THanks for the info.
