What mods should I do if any?
Just got a new boat a few weeks ago and I'm already thinking about mods. I have had numerous rigs over the years but have never done mods. Is it really worth it? I am skeptical to do it from all the horror stories I've heard regarding reliability and maintenance. I need someone to sell me one way or another. If I do it I don't want to crack the motor open, so I'm think a stage 1 or stage 2.
The boat is a 1748 CC Pro-Drive with a 36PD FPR. This boat will be dual purpose rig for hunting/fishing. I am currently running 25-26mph with me at 225, a dog, and a full cooler. Boat has some added weight with the rear fish deck, 80lb Minn Kota trolling motor, 3 Optima batteries, on-board battery charger, hydroturf, spud kit and seat box for the passengers. If I do the mods, what speeds should I expect and how much better will it carry a load?
I know I'm a noob to the forum and there is a search feature but I would spend forever trying to get answers to all my questions.
Thanks in advance for y'alls assistance.

You won't spend forever searching, cause there is a thread literally on the same page as this asking the same shit! And you will crack the motor open if you want stage 2. It's a machine, it will break. It will treat you as well as you treat it. Go to google, and search "what mods mudmotortalk" It's THAT simple. Honestly.

If you don't want to crack the motor open then do heads carb and exhaust. That's all you can do.

Go to the poker run at Seminole next weekend. You'll see what mods will do vs stock. You may also see a naked grown man doing cannon balls off a boat. Something for everyone.

find a good used 40, 50, 60, or 70 hp outboard for 2k or so and swapout the motors when you don't need the mudmotor. set it up in your garage/shed and it won't take a hour to swap them out.
