[*]anybody ran the new delta intake and could tell a difference from before the upgrade? Just wondering what the word is on it. Trying to weigh out if it's worth it to get one. Dad gum that's a lot of $ for an intake lol. There ain't just a whole lot of options out there. Not looking for any bashing products or what not, just simple opinions. Thanks for any helpful info.

Delta is supposed to be the best Black Death second and Pvt third

I'll call Delta and they'll tell me theirs. I can call BoatDR and he will tell me Black Death. I can call Al and he will tell me PVT. I just want to know where you got the info from.

Don't know. Chris is a BPS dealer so probably a Black Death. As far as Hoyt, never dealt with him. I still want to know how you concluded your ratings. By asking people? Or just reading stuff. Or have you actually ran each one?

Post subject:  Re: Delta intake vs black death

I've got a ported Pvt now that due to the design being so short I'm having to flip it around and run it with the carb facing forward otherwise the bowl get so hot it boils the fuel causing a loss in performance and vapor lock symptoms

I'm going to get my hands on a Black Death soon and get it ported to hold me over until I can have my fab shop replicate the older evt intake

The delta intake is the only one I haven't had my hands on yet but from what I'm told it will outflow the Black Death

There you go none of that is a lie or untruthful believe it if you want or don't doesn't bother me I was just passing on info that someone very reputable has told me and no I'm not disclosing who

I honestly don't care. Just trying to liven it up

Just put some facts out there with the saying next time ;)

As far as your carb getting hot, that's kinda strange being I have several friends running a PVT and haven't had that problem.

I don't have a pvt, but I have the bps that was meant for a vertical motor. It works but my carb is getting hot from being so low in the valley on top of the engine. Got the idea from Hotsauce last weekend uto turn it around and I'm gona work on that this weekend. Shoulda done it Friday night but I was too drunk/lazy, and people at big jims were making fun of my boat while I was wrenchin so I had to GTFO. I like the idea having of the carb up front since I have no neutral I can control my idle speed a lot easier, change jets faster, and if the carb falls off it will land in the boat not the water.

I've been cleaning up the stock intake. Hope it runs ok with mikuni. I guess if not I can always buy a delta.

Thousands of horizontal rigs out there and all of a sudden you can't run a Mikuni in the valley of the block. You need to check your oil temp. The only times people have had that problem is with the old rain shields and certain exhaust while idling too long. As far as the best intake, it depends on your rig and your mods and what you want. Whether you want low end torque for load carry or high end top speed. Just because it has a bigger hole in it doesn't mean its' better.

I had a worked Black Death Intake, and just recently switched to a Delta Intake... Honestly I can't tell any difference, other than I now have small fuel leak where the carb meets the boots or the bottom of the carb. Haven't ran it long or had a chance to diagnose the problem.

Delta intake makes the carb sit further back for sure, so I'm going to have to get a longer hose for the valve cover as it is almost pinched off. Or do the plug and small filter route.

Thanks for review 3rd coast. I'm torn on what to do. I think I'm just goin to port n polish the stock intake and clean it up real good for now, and run it. If I'm not happy it's an easy swap.

$305 for the Black Death intake? Jesus Christ.
How much is the delta? $500?

The black death is still just an adapter bolted to the stock intake. Isn't delta offering two options? An adapter and a complete intake?
