Okay so I have 2 issues here. First issue is the trim, I have a 2010 do I have old style trim with the relays. It is cutting in an out and now will only work sometimes when I rev the motor up, and it keeps popping the 25 amp fuse so I put a 30 amp and it is just popping them too. I changed the trim switch becuase I thought that might have been it but that's a no go, and I changed all the connections on the back of it, still nothing, put a new online fuse holder and changed the connection to the starter, and put w new connection on the ground wire for the trim on the motor, still nothing. I am dead in the water on this one, any info ?

Second problem. So my battery died a few days ago and I got info to test the battery and then test the positive and negative on the motor to see if it's putting out. I have a non CDI motor so I know it won't charge unless going over 2 k rpms, will I got it over 2 k and it was showing 0.55 on the multimeter. Well I was told it wasent the voltage meter cause it was reading something, and I went ahead and returned the battery and got a new one. I hooked it up today and of course since it's only 1 day old it is showing 12.56 volts at a stand still, but I read on here that when you rev the motor up to around 3600 k rpms, the voltage on the battery is showing 12.56, it is staying the same and I read at that rpm it should be showing around 14 volts, is this correct ? And since the battery voltage is staying the same, the motor isn't charging it ? Could I be the voltage regulator ?

Could be the regulator or the stator. Easy to test, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna type it on my phone lol. One day I'll sit at a computer and type the instructions for a sticky. Lmao. Pm sent

It costs a little scratch, but your best bet is to get a new switch from gator tail that will do away with the relays. Those things are junk. I would recommend biting the bullet and getting the new control box for the tiller handle and doing away with all the other bs. Also, yeah. You need to be showing over 13 volts on a meter when you are revving the motor if it's charging.

Well Mississippi I'm just looking for it to get fixed at the moment and not last forever becuase I plan on going get my motor converted to the new trim unit around the spilt for duck season, but I heard the relays are junk from many people

I gotcha I gotcha, I don't even know if I have relays, I have 4 wires on the back of my trim switch, blue, red, green and brown
The red runs to the inline fuse
The brown is a ground
And the blue and green run are spliced into a black and wire running into the trim motor
So is this the relay trim or there something good about that, I'm dead on the water about the whole trim situation haha

Check your flat plug on your regulator. To see if it has gotten hot and burnt out. The relays should be in clear view. That old trim unit was slow. Cold weather killed it.

it's acutally slower than watching paint dry but will check plug

Mine has worked sporadically in the past. I found a broken crimp on wire connector to be the culprit..... twice.

I went ahead and rebuilt my old trim unit and that has helped it perform better as well.

So update on my motor problem, it was my stator, shout out to Russ for talking me threw that so 1 problem down

And update on the trim, I have checked all the wires, changed the trim switch, changed all the connections on the back of the switch, changed the ground connection, changed the connections were the blue and white connect and where the black and green wire connect, those wires run directly only the trim motor, there are no relays, I'm thinking the guy I bought it from had the trim updated, there is power where the wires run into the trim motor, I'm lost here, is my acutal trim motor out ?

Cut the two wires going to your trim loose from your switch. Touch them straight to the battery. This will tell you if its your switch, wiring, or motor. Reverse the wires on the battery to make the trim reverse.

Cut the black and white wire and put them on the battery and put them reversed, no go, so I'm guessing the trim motor is shot, well guess it's time to man up and drop 550 on the new unit

The new trim operates better anyway.

If it is the OLD style CMC trim a lot of time the motor shaft o rings let oil into the motor housing and that stops it from working. New seals and cleaning out the housing will get you back going.
Let me know if I can help you out. I have rebuilt a few.

:) Yea thanks for all the help guys, I would do that if i were looking to go a cheap route but I'm really trying to put a lot of new parts on this motor, and their new trim unit is badass compared to the old slow one that I have so I figure it's time for the upgrade

Since you'll are on the subject can the new trim unit motor be dissasembled? Mine has been working on and off. I have to tap the motor and itll work for a while again. What could that be?

When it finally stops working I may attempt to take it apart being I'll have to buy a new one. Hate to cause more by tearing it apart. If I mess it up then I had to buy a new one anyways.
