| Post subject: | Hydraulic trim motor on Prodrive |
Does anyone know if there is a replacement motor available on the hydraulic pump assembly for the trim feature on Prodrive motors? Mine went out and I am trying to find a replacement without having to replace the entire unit. I checked with Prodrive and got a price but just wanted to see if there are any other options. |

But to answer your question, yes you can definitely get it somewhere else, but I don't think pd's price was that bad last time I checked. There is some numbers on the pump, punch em in to google and you'll find some replacements. Theres tons of websites that sell em. |

If you have the older 3 wire system, then yes I know a very cheap place to replace it. if you have the ne 2 wire pump, then no, but you can get a brand new 3 wire pump and reservoir, ready to go for $187. I have been running it for about 3 years now. |

I think the spare i may have is gonna be a 3 wire. I'll try to remember to check when i get to the house. |

Hydraulics is hydraulics. I actually had the unit with the plastic reservoirs and in the cold weather, I broke 2 of the resevoirs and had oil all over the place. Decoy weight on the first and a pushpole on the second. I changed both reservoirs back to the metal (on same 3 wire setup) and haven't had one issue yet. The only thing the plastic one is good for is to see the level. Hell if you don't have any leaks, why do you need to see the level. The only difference in the 3 wire setup compared to the 2 wire is the 2 wire is a reversing polarity motor. It has two hots, the 3 wire requires a ground, thus the 3rd wire (black). if you do decide to go the cheaper route, just run a ground wire and that's it. Blue is blue and the green is yellow for comparison, black is of course ground. Uses same fittings so they can easily be swapped from the 2 wire high as giraffe twat Bucher pump, to the cheaper mercury 3 wire. Oh one other thing that I just thought of. If you are currently running solenoids for your 2 wire pumps, they will not work on the 3 wire. The 2 wire uses a reversing polarity solenoid, similar to a winch solenoid. The 3 wire uses 2 separate solenoids, but I found those trombetta ones for $22 each. |
