 Freedom Mudmotor
They just sent me this. Shows it in MUD. The smoke that you see is not smoke. Its steam from the exhaust gas boiling the water in the lower unit. The exhaust ports are below the water line like an outboard. Only prob I see it how long will it run in the mud boiling the water before it start effecting the cooling. Time will tell.

Get one with 60hp and it'll be wild. Smooth and quiet would be nice too.

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
I mostly need something that'll take lower unit strikes in shallow water. Running shallow rivers and idling through weeds and shallow water while fishing. Very little mud up here.
If that prop is worth a dern that could be the bees knees for me.

Looks like a factory gearcase....which looks like trouble after a handful of hard impacts. Great concept though, really interested in some testimonials after a few seasons.

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
Is it a Mercury outboard that has a water cooled loop and a different lower unit?

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
I think it has its uses but what are the chances of running shallow water and not hitting stumps and logs?

I'm wondering if the will be allowed in Biloxi marsh? They state it is an outboard not a surface drive.

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
I'm wondering if they'll ever consider offering kits to retrofit other outboards. I'd be much more interested in putting the lower unit on my motor and cooling box in my boat than $10k for a new motor and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
Price really isn't any different than most of the regular lawnmower mud motors. Not enough to say it's "a lot more" expensive

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
This might be a little off topic, but what about taking the same concept this guy is doing and putting and outboard block on the sport v lower unit and running the same cooling system this guys is doing. The lower unit would be stronger and there would more horses being put out from the outboard motor.

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
There are regulations controlling emissions that a manufacturer avoids by using an air cooled engine under 1k cc. If you want to pay full price for a sport v, then pull the engine and bolt up an outboard powered, good luck. Seriously, it may work fine. I doubt MudBuddy will sell you just a frame, and they likely don't do it because they don't want to fight the emissions standards testing. The v frames weren't built other engine footprints in mind, but may be easy to adapt. This freedom thing, as it looks like mercury is definitely involved, probably falls under mercury umbrella in some way shape or form in order to be covered under the regulations concerning outboard emissions.

 Re: Freedom Mudmotor
I did not know that about the emissions deal. I know someone with a sport v, thats the only reason I ask and why it made me wonder why that has not been thought of yet. I am no expert with engines and what not. I would have to see if it would even be possible to mount an outboard motor on the sport v lower. And I am talking about the sport v, not the prodrive. Both frames take a block that could support the idea of an outboard motor or a vertical motor.

I just had time to actually watch the video. Did they really misspell their brand name in their own video? LOL
