Got around to finally putting fuel into my redone rig (see removing foam topic in Boats and Blinds), the motor has 5 hours on it. It ran flawlessly on the fuel system that came with the boat (used boat, 5/16" line, poly tank in front of boat). I re-did the entire fuel system with new 6 gal tanks, new 1/4" line throughout, new f/w separator.

Tank > bulb > 10'+/- fuel line > f/w separator > e pump > inline filter > motor.

the motor idled fine for about 5 min, then shut off and could not get it to even think about firing. i trailered the boat from the shop to my house (10 min drive) and it fired up at the house (after some coaxing) idled for about 5 min then shut off again.

I'm thinking there is a ton of water in the fuel, and that during the drive the fuel and water are shaken enough to allow the motor to idle until the water settles back down into the tank. I second guess this slightly because i figured the f/w separator would have taken care of the water, unless its just an absurd amount of water.

going to dump the fuel and drain the lines today. Will report back, any other suggestions are appreciated, the last thing i am going to do is pull apart anything in the motor.

I don't know much about the EFI's but I do know that wiring harnesses have been a problem for them.
Maybe bring it into the shop?

Its not bad fuel. I put fresh gas in a tank and bypassed everything except for the epump and inline filter....so it's now hooked up to the truck and headed to the shop today....pretty infuriating at 5 hours, HOPEFULLY this will be warrantied.

what kind of epump do you have ? maybe it is pushing too much fuel

That sucks.....hope they get you fixed up.

Just keep reminding yourself how much better it will idle in -50° temps than a carb motor.

I'm not saying its for sure the High Pressure Fuel pump, but the connector going to that pump usually has a break in the connector causing insufficient voltage to the pump..

It was the high pressure pump. Runs like a top now.
