Post Home Made short tail mud motor
Hi everyone I just recently built a short tail mud motor from plans a got on ebay and it went great I recently installed a k&n air filter and also a emgo shorty muffler off of eBay. I knew I would have to bore out the main jet on my gx390 clone engine so I did but I tuned it on land so when I brought it to the water to run it it ran to rich since I didn't compensate for water friction. Is there any other way to tune it so I won't have to be drilling out a jet on the water trying to tune it? Advice would help Tks

Yep, there is a way. Buy one of these. It's an adjustable jet for the honda and clone carbs.

And with just adding the filter and pipe on that motor...you shouldn't have to increase the jet size much at all. Hell, the factory jet should almost work in most weather conditions. Get the adjustable needle though, and you'll be good.
