put some extra horses in my pro drive and wondering how long will the clutch normally last. putting out about 50 hp on a 17ft excell boat |

It varies but average lifespan is 200 hours no matter the power. Some get way more, some get far less. Those electro magnet pieces of shit are never the same. They usually burn the electro magnet up due to faulty wires or start breaking apart before the bearings fail. Engine power doesn't really affect them unless you like to rev to 4 grand and then engage it. No pads or anything like a car clutch to wear out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cH0X7-fwzo |

I believe they are 800 hr rated. I get more than that usually. some people get way less. they suck? lol |

Haha, probably are rated for 800. A few years back, even KP said they were only getting about 200-250 average. I had one last about 25 hours and it separated itself. haha |

I can't get one to last over 40-50 hrs. Not sure if its the torque of my motor when I push it loaded down, pulling the kids on a tube or just not running it enough. I think its the latter, due to my line of work. The clutches have bearings. I'm a vibration specialist for Dow and deal with bearing issues daily. If a bearing is left un-rotated for an extended period of time, it will corrode. Even if new, the next time its started, it will have damage and the damage will escalate. So now I at least turn my prop every now and then to keep it "somewhat rotated" |

I dunno. I guess I've just been lucky. if I had to worry about a clutch every 50 hours i'd throw that shit away and buy a outboard. lol |
