I will make this short.

I purchased new did maintenance every 50 hours as instructed. Always ran 93+ octane.

Never had a single issue until tuesday....

I actually made a long run Sunday for a hunt with a sizable load parked in my driveway until tuesday....at first started it sounded horrible....decided to take it back to my shop and tear down....

See pictures.

My only conclusion not definitive...

A small piece of muffler got sucked into or bounced into #2 cylinder (while trailered)

Never heard a rattle before this I'm assuming muffler fell apart after my Sunday hunt.

Any insight or other thoughts are appreciated.

The "red" pieces of debris were removed from the muffler the "black" ones came out of the intake & exhaust ports on the head.

I think you diagnosed it correctly , that piece of baffle came apart and did exactly what you see. That sucks!.

Looks quite familiar. Also on a 5500 bamf. He's likely sleeping by now (he's old and in the eastern time zone), but I'm sure he'll chime in tomorrow.

That build recipe is not long for life and that is par for the course with muffler debris seen it many times it sucks

Muffler debris came out of duals? Doesn't seem possible with the turn downs. I mean the shit was obviously in there but I thought they were safe from that.

My guess would be while being trailered. Do you trailer with it trimmed all the way up?

I had a stock exhaust come apart and drop a jewel down in a head and slam a plug shut once. Luckily on a stock motor still under warranty.
Had to have happened when trailering for me too.

Good luck man. That shit sucks!

Makes me wanna figure out how to travel with my GDSD trimmed down instead of up haha.. So if your exhaust is gutted should there be any pieces left to fall ?

I believe that is what Strobie22 meant by his comment.

I've had that happen on 2 motors. It does cause the pissed off mode. Since I changed to MM exhaust I haven't had any more problems
