How much would some dings in hull affect the ability to get peak RPM's out of a 37efi? Still trying to figure out whats going on with this motor and just want to eliminate any possible issues. Thing is I had a gen III PD on it previously that ran 4450 all day no issues, so I wouldn't think a dinged up hull would have that big of an impact on rpms.

Really? 3-400 rpms? How bad are we talking here?

A messed up bottom can really effect performance. Keep in mind your Pd was a gen 3 with low gearing. Can't compare to your new motor

I still belive a stock PD with 1.5 gearing should see about 4k. GTR's with 1.26 gearing are spinning 4250 with EFI's

Stock PD gen IV with 1.52 gearing should do 4250+ according to KP.

I'm gonna try and take pics while I'm running this weekend of the water as it comes out from under the transom. It almost looks like I'm dragging something causing water to spray everywhere. I've watched other boats in person and on video and as the water travels from the bottom of the boat to the lower unit or prop , it is definitely a lot more smoother looking id say, or undisturbed. I'll try and post pics this weekend, I know good and well it's robbing my speed because I have a very light boat and poor speeds I think.

I've been trying to find someone that can help patch up the bottom of my boat just to eliminate any issues there and haven't had any luck. A PITA in Raleigh, NC.... ha

What flint did gave me enough reason to attempt it too

1.pull off your sub floor.
2. put hull on concrete slab that is flat and level.
3. get a 4x4 2 or 3' long and a 10# sledgehammer and flatten out all the hooks.

go about your bidness.

it will eventually hook again, but it will run good for a while. in the meantime save up for a well made boat. lol

good luck

or pull out sub floor, put 4x4 or 4x6 under boat where it is cupped or bent take another 4x4 or 4x6 and place over top of dents (both pieces should stick out past bottom and top of boat sides, use smaller blocks and a hydraulic bottle jack and push out dents to the bottom 4x4. no banging and less chance of breaking welds or cause cracks!

What happens if you repair a hook too much :? ? I was hammering out the transom hook and hit one spot a bit too hard. How will a reverse hook effect the ride?

Applied Fasco fas stone 7 to some minor hooks and didn't help with my low rpm issue.
