Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
So I have the 4 man gatortrax Gatorhide with a MB Black Death 4400. Want to go with a model that has reverse. While making that change I would love the consistency of EFI but I do not have a reference for how well it will push the 20' hide. Can anyone advise if the power will be enough or should I stick with the BD line?

Re: Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
For kind of a reference, I just put a 37 on my 06 mudbuddy outdrive on a 1648 GDSD boat and with me and my buddy combined at 330# and light teal hunting load, I was getting right at 30. I don't know how much this helps.

Re: Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
For reference I have 36 pro drive with 1854 - loaded it down the max this weekend with 4 guys and a extra 200lbs. We were cruising at about 20mph with about 1000lbs not including boat.

Re: Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
It's been posted here a couple of times that a 37 Efi will run about the same as a BD 44. I have no personal experience with the 37 but that was most said here. Use the search functions you should be able to find several discussions about this exact topic.

i have the 3M Hide with an MB (heads, cam and carb). she'll push 28 easy with 3 people and our hunting gear.
a stock 37 will not have the ass to push that boat at a speed you'll like during the season.

Re: Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
It will push it. Lots of "you won't like it" from the opinions above, but ultimately you haven't stated what you're looking for with speed. Figure on (with the weight of that boat) top speed being around 26 light, down to maybe 20 or so with a 4 man hunt load. That 20 or so will take a min, just due to having to get the weight on plane. This is based off all the comparisons everyone here has made of a stock 37 efi to a stage 1, then estimated on that particular boat (which I have been in a carb, exhaust, .020 headwork on the big hide). I'm not exact with that because of all the variables (props and weight), but that should get you pretty close to an idea of what it'll do.

Buddy has a 4 man hide with a 4400 HDR and runs 28. And it's a damn barge. Loaded down it still runs good.

Re: Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
Thanks everyone! I really don't care as much about getting up to 30mph as I do about the boat getting up on plane quickly.

Re: Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
You could always change the prop to get the performance right or go get a gatortail 37 efi and be done with it! Proping the motor to match the load and boat helps a lot!

Re: Will 37 EFI push a 4 man Gatorhide
you know the gtail bandwagon guys can't help it. gotta let the world know how great their outdated system is.
the other thingis that you will likely need a modded motor to turn a larger prop. most stock motor can't turn a hammer type prop
