I have just learned that my kohler 25hp on my mudbuddy longtail is beyond a reasonable repair and needs replacement. A new kohler has been quoted for over 2k. My other thought would be a replacement with the predator 22 hp motor. For the most part I feel the reviews on these motors have been positive and are considerably cheaper. What are your opinions on this motor? Would it even work as a replacement? Any other suggestions?

I think the crank height is taller on the kohler, might have to raise mounting surface

Where are you located? If interested I have a "25" Subaru EFI I'll sell. I bought it new in March of this year. I swapped to a big block last week. I'm in Beaumont - just east of Houston, TX.

BTW, Im pretty sure the Kohler and Subaru dimensions match up is why I made the suggestion. We can double check schematics if you are interested.

I figured there might be a difference in height... as long as the kohler is higher i think it should work.

I live in FL, texas would be to far of a drive for me.

and It had alot of issues, water in the crankcase, some rusting on lifters and pushrods, damage to camshaft, pushrods bent, all lifters were bad, and most likley damage to crankshaft, but I might take whats salvageable and sell the parts.
