I am new to the mud motor scene so please pardon my lack of knowledge. Just Monday of this past week I had purchases a 16' legend kraft with a 27hp mud buddy (76hrs) . Upon purchasing I was in the water on Tuesday boat ran as it should or so I thought. Yesterday I went hunting with a friend of mine whom has a 17' polar kraft with a 25hp go devil. However one thing was different, He managed to stay infront of me the entire way atleast 3-4 hundred yards.So this raised some suspicion on my end. Theoretically being a smaller boat and larger motor I would think I should be faster by any and all means and yet this was not the case.

The motor wasn't bogging or anything, SAID WOT with load was at 3,300 RPMS how was/is this possible?

Secondly I would like to have some general maintenance performed and figured while doing so I would like to add some modifications. With willingness to spend up to 1k for mods what would y'all recommend? Please advise
