Didn't know what subject to put it under but I run a 1650 riveted jon boat. Going with either a 37efi backwater longtail or a 23hp copperhead. Which would push that boat better? Typically run 2 guys, dog and 3-6 dozen decoys. Thanks guys |

it would the best to run a mud motor on a motor motor hull but you have to work with what you have so id personally go with the copperhead, heard a lot of good stuff about those motors and you are deff gonna like a surface drive over a long tail, that long tail will make your arm wish you bought a surface drive |

I have ran longtails, I have a 10hp backwater on my 1432 Jon boat but acquired this bigger boat so I'm selling my boat and getting a motor for the new hull. I'm gonna run this boat till I have the money to get a 1748 uncle j. I'm just wondering if I'd get more speed out of a 26.5 backwater or even a 35 over the copperhead. Thanks for the info |

I do think that the better speeds and maneuverability with same loads would be with a SD motor. Run a longtail for over 10 yrs it was ok till I moved off of the coast and moved to NE Texas. That timber made me greatly appreciate a SD. |

the 37efi longtail will outperform the 23 copperhead all day. Copperhead will likely be easier to drive although I heard the backwater motors handle great for a longtail. |
