 Non cdi stator
I have a non cdi 2010 gator tail and recently I changed the stator on it and probably went ride 5-6 time and you can hear the battery getting weaker everytime I went ride and finally today it died, and well when I changed the stator the clip on the voltage regulator was cut off and just butt spliced onto the stator, so when she went ride I hook it back up i just cut the clip off and butt crimped them together, think they might be backwards and that is causing it not to charge fully ?

 Re: Non cdi stator
The stator should have 35 VAC at least when at a fast idle, check with volt meter, rectifier/regular should output at least 13.8 VDC or greater. You can disconnect the stator from regulator check it, then hook back up and check it, the VAC will drop some but not a lot unless some thing is loading it down.
BTW readings on my 2011 CDI were 42 VAC and 14.2 hooked up a good and charged battery. And also your charging system does not start to charge til your at about 1100 rpms, so a lot of slow idling around will discharge your battery.
