Post 25hp go devil surface drive
Has anyone run one of these Kohler 25hp surface drives from go devil . A friend of mine is going to buy a used one that's only a few years old and has around 30 hrs on it. 1800 is what he's going to give. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me for price on that motor . Would anyone agree or disagree? Thanks for any feedback

I think that's a good deal.
Make sure nothing is wrong with it.
But with 30 hours, and a Kohler powerhead, should be a solid little motor.

Thanks for the feedback buddy. Pictures look good. I told him it's been a while for me but I thought people were paying more for a used surface drive then 1800. I think I paid about 3200 used for a 23 mud buddy about 6 or 7 years ago . This go devil is only 2 years old .

Have him get the serial number and call Go Devil with it.

They'll verify the guy selling it is who they have the motor registered with.

They keep record of ownership, and often times they won't sell you parts if you aren't the owner. I'm sure there are ways around this...but they do their best at theft prevention.

Thanks I'll be sure and do that , what boat would yall put that little motor on ? It will be a secondary refuge boat for us. Typically run a 1746 custom with a 25gtr and that rig works good for us but this one is going to be set up with a low budget in mind . Thanks guys

Well what about a 1646? I mean a 100 gauge custom. I thought I've seen alot of talk about 1646 doing good with 25s. We have a 1746 with 25gtr last 4 years and does pretty decent

Yea I have had that 1644 go devil boat with a 23 mini on it and I hunted it hard for a couple years and did ok. Was wanting to try a slightly wider one and hunt deck on this one . I appreciate the opinions

Yeah I haven't thought about that , but man the hunt deck is so nice fir my dog and fishing and stuff . So I guess I would call it a 16 to 17 total counting the hunt deck . I definitely won't go over 17 with a 25. Good info . Thank you for the input

Almost all builders count the hunt deck as part of the length. The length is the bottom of the boat - it doesn't matter that part of it is enclosed. Just make sure you are on the same page with the builder on that.

The Instagators are top performers for a 25HP engine. Jay's 25HP boats purpose built for those engines being light way. Seems his favorite boat is a 16.5 x 46 - but the light material and chine is what makes his boats shine. Unless you have a shitload of extra patience to wait on a boat - I wouldn't go this route unless you find a used one.

My boat is 16.5 x 48. 1/8th sides and 3/16 floor. Great boat - but it was too heavy for the Subaru GTR.

What kind of chine does he use on those boats , I may speak to him about one , Im definitely in no hurry and we have another rig that I use right now so I may go this route with someone to build me a 100 gauge hull. How long does it ruffly take to have him build one you think . I'm good till next season now since I have access to a large bay boat and the other marsh rig .
