 carb vs efi
was advised that the efi's are still having trouble with reliability and the bud buddy 35 carb would be better than the 37 efi. any one have any trouble out of their 37 efi??

 Re: carb vs efi
On a serious note, I have done that and searched it multiple different ways.... still can not find a post that is up to date and a straight answer. most of the post are in relations to modifications or over a year old. I was informed that they still are having issues with the efi systems. So my question is can anyone tell me if they are still having the same reliability issues with the EFI straight from Mudbuddy without any mods.

 Re: carb vs efi
It's not a mud buddy, or for that matter any other mud motor manufacturer issue. It is a briggs issue. There are more people without problems, than with problems from the efi.

 Re: carb vs efi
I've also got a really good friend who has had nothing but trouble with his EFI. Wiring harness, fuel pumps, etc. it goes both ways. Hit or miss.

 Re: carb vs efi
Get what you think you want, deal with the issues if they arise. You have a warranty for 3 years as long as you don't piss it away doing modifications to gain 1.8736548920&4 mph....
They ALL can (and will) leave you stranded. If you're that concerned, bring a trolling motor, extra batteries, a sat phone, or, just stay on the bank.

 Re: carb vs efi
Thanks for the advice (guys that actually gave advice). I can clearly see some of yall are just on here to act like you know it all. I mean come on who cares if someone asked a question that was talked about before. Maybe if your life didn't depend around a forum it wouldn't bother you so much, but noooo you have to be a internet bad ass and act like its such a burden to you. kent from gator trax is who i got my info from 16jan2017 at 1135 AM, and i'm buying my rig from him and like the mud buddy that's why i asked about mud buddy. geez its a simple question posted on a website and yall act like someone is calling you on the phone bothering you.

 Re: carb vs efi
My two cents. If you maintain your motor yourself, go with the carb, most problems can be fixed at home. If you depend on a dealer to do all your maintenance, go with an EFI, hopefully he has the programs and the parts needed to fix your problem. If you have a problem when on the water, with EFI you are pretty much screwed. With a carb you might have a chance of fixing it, and getting back to landing.

 Re: carb vs efi
I am of the opinion that you buy the one that would best suit what you use it for and makes you be in that happy place!!! Then skin it back and let the flies eat on it, or drive like you stole it and enjoy!!!

 Re: carb vs efi
I recently got a new 37 EFI GT. I really like EFI motors in general and not having to deal with a carb which is why I went with the 37. With that being said I have had a couple of minor issues with mine so far. Tach went out at 5.1 hours and also the fuel pump relay went out at about 15 hours. Other than those small things it has been great. I'm at about 25 hours on it now. Only time will tell if I made the right decision or not, but as of right now I'm happy.
