 35 gd blowing oil
I have a 35 hp gd that was running good 4weeks ago. Had a a week of good hunting and engine running fine. Today I went to run the engine and it won't start. Checked oil and had none on dipstick. Added 1 quart of oil. Will start after much cranking and will run for about 10 seconds. When it runs it blows a huge smoke screen and spits oil out the muffler and out the air filter. Any ideas?

 Re: 35 gd blowing oil
I've had to replace my rear crank case gasket twice after 350 hours. It's a Briggs issue, not a GD problem.

 Re: 35 gd blowing oil
You do a compression test yet?
Something else to try us a low pressure gauge on the dipstick tube, see if there's positive pressure.

 Re: 35 gd blowing oil
Thanks for the tips. I am planning on doing a compression test this weekend. After further inspection, it's not blowing oil out the carb, but mostly the oil. Had somebody mention to me that the carb may be leaking gas into the crankcase causing the oil to thin. Planning on draining the oil and inspecting it. Thinking maybe a carb kit? The engine has 45 hours and the valves have not been adjusted. Don't know if this would have any impact on the oil blowing out the muffler.
