viewtopic.php?f=3&t=62111&p=841401&hilit=Wiring+a+mercury+trim#p841401 I have purchased a mercury style trim unit for my 08 and 09 GTR's. I have my relays from the CMC. I might send those back to someone to have them rebuilt and sell them. I really hate those older trim units. Nothing but problems out of both of mine. Damn things leak all over. Anyhow, I am in need of a little direction on how to wire this new trim up. From what I ready I need to use the old relays. Is that correct? Pretty much follow the post above? Any help would be appreciated. Does anyone know who repairs/rebuilds the CMC type trims? I have two with less than 150 hours on the motors. |

If you keep the same wiring you can use it as is. But GT used a shallco rocker switch that eliminates the relays to simplify the wiring. GT uses a Parker trim now. |

Im going to sell them as is or fix them and keep them as spares. Any ideas where I can get two of these shallco rocker switches? |

After working on outboards for a little bit, got a question. Never had to work on my trim for my mud motor, I know it is a 2 wire motor requiring polarity switching relays. But some are 3 wire and a good heavy duty or one capable of higher than 20 amps[spdt momentary on(mon)-off-on(mon)] will work. |

Mine are two wire. They are the ones that Gator-tail used to have on their website for sale I believe. |

A winch polarity switching relay is not cheap but probably a lot better than relays. a part #24450 is one I have used on ATV winch with good results. $20-$100 depending on where you order it from. https://www.dbelectrical.com/products |

I know oreilly carries a 120 amp one that wasn't terribly expensive. Blu bought one for his motor before the setx ride. Then you can use the inexpensive toggle switch, and you can replace just the rubber boot by itself if you wear it out. |

These are the parts you will need if you decide to switch over to the Mercury trim unit. As it turns out I just cut almost all of the wiring I needed off of the old relay wires and just used it. Very simple to install. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075C ... UTF8&psc=1 -New switch https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005G ...
