 Is it the float?
23 Briggs Vm34 round slide carb Home made duals Timing advance key, I think 3 or 5* can't remember.
Was running 35 pilot 180 main was not getting response out of air screw Now running 30 pilot getting response from air screw, runs best at about 7/8 turned out.
Problem is once I start it, when I drop the motor down like it would be dropping the prop in the water it dies. Runs fine level and tilted forward into the boat. Once it warms up it will run no matter how it's tipped. Or how fast I tip it. I'm thinking float adjustment?
Haven't tried revving much past idle but it kinda sound like it starts missing when I start to rev off idle. Needle clip is in 2nd clip from top.

 Re: Is it the float?
Sounds like a float problem to me. If you have had it apart several times make sure the clip that holds the float valve plunger to the float is there if your carb uses one.

 Re: Is it the float?
Does anyone know if the float adjustment is different to compensate for the angle of the Black Death Intake? This carb was originally in a bps kit but is now on a PVT adapter which is level

 Re: Is it the float?
I would try adjusting the float so that it puts more fuel in the carb (tab down I believe) and see what it does.

 Re: Is it the float?
Tab up! The float will then close the needle sooner keeping the fuel level in carb a lil lower. Imo order a new needle and seat. If you have a spare you will never need it. Newtons law, i think

 Re: Is it the float?
Not likely. And if bending the tab like you did made it worse, fuel pressure isn't the issue. The bowl is staying full enough.

 Re: Is it the float?
I removed my crappy stock vacuum fuel pump and put an electric 2-4psi at the tank on mine but my tank is at the rear of the boat. My float valve will hold it closed under pressure and haven't had an issue with fuel starvation or flooding since the swap. I have only run the motor about 3hrs since the swap but it's great now.

 Re: Is it the float?
Just thought about something from reading another thread. I have the swivel mount and it doesn't have a bump stop. How far is too far when tilting a mikuni back? I mean it did run fine with the stock carb like that. Off to bend the tab

 Re: Is it the float?
There is a bump stop. I just didn't know it was there bc the screw in under the mountain of grease from the new and improved upper bearing
