Post Flywheel is stuck
So my key sheared in my flywheel, so I took everything apart and whatnot and put the puller on, tried to do it by hand, wouldn't go, and put the impact on with 120psi and still wouldn't even budge, started to bend the heads of the bolts that went through the puller. Any body got any tips to get it off ? I'm guessing the key is making it really stuck on there

I would try putting liquid wrench on it over night then heat the flywheel with a torch (Dont get crazy) and tap on it a bit. Should come off.

Hopefully its not friction welded too badly.

Double check the end of the puller to make sure its cleanly on the crank. Also lube up the spinner on the end of the puller. If you dont have a spinner on the end of puller you can get alot of friction there and the puller cant do its job

Yea I have it one perfectly in the center, gonna wait a little while and let the pb blaster soak in, and when I try again I'll put some on the spinner

Smack the center of the puller with a hammer.

I have tried everything, heating it up, letting it sit up overnight with liquid wrench, beat the flywheel with hammer around and keep trying for about an hour, turned up the impact to 150 psi, nothing, guess I'll go bring it to a shop and see what they can do

ok your puller needs not be more than a strong flat bar/angle/channel. With 2 holes for bolts. span the puller across the crank nose (flywheel nut removed), thread some nuts onto the bolts to the head, then thread the bolts though the puller and into the flywheel. adjust the nuts down the bolts until the puller plate is level and tighten ach nut against the puller equally. Once snug, smack the puller right on top the crank snout and keep tightening equally until it frees itself from the taper.

do not hit the flywheel its will crack more than likely as its cast and brittle.

Good point on "hitting" flywheel.

That was a poor choice of words-I would say tap would be a better choice and only with a deadblow.

I have done that many times on the briggs and the kawi with no issues and ultimately having success in combo with pressure from the puller.

It is something to be careful with.

i know this is old thread but old man told me to pry up a little on a solid point and put air chisel with pointed bit in center of crank.. comes off like butter almost as soon as you hit the button chisel.. he ground off the point so it fits nice in divet on crank..
