I have an all camo Triton 1860 that I want to put a surface drive on. The 60hp merc on it now pushes it around 32mph. What motor would I have to put on it so it doesn't crawl around

A merc 90. Dude it's a triton. It's not a mud boat. You want a surface drive with half the HP, and want to not put around on a boat that wasn't designed for it?

Get a GTR stage 3 and hope to go on plane, but honestly you should just sell your rig and get a mud hull if you really want to run a SD and enjoy it

Coming from someone who has run a SD on a regular boat - it just doesn't work. There is just too much drag from seams and/or rivets and you may never get on a plane. Plus mud motors of substantial enough size to run you anywhere in the ballpark of 30+ is going to be extremely heavy and possibly bend/break your transom. Not to mention the damage you're going to incur on your hull from running over stumps with thin aluminum.

Worst case scenario you can get a SD and run it, then sell the current hull if you're unhappy with the results (you probably will be). That being said, you can find some great used boats here and the Mud Boat Mafia Facebook Group.

Mercury 115 Pro XS. Pretty damn fast and will push that Triton way over 40. I got the 150 4s it pushes my 24 ft past 47.2 MPH with 9 adults and ice chest. The turning sucks but the music is loud.

Bluesky nailed it to a point. If you're dead set on a surface drive, you'll need mods to meet your stated expectations. What is commonly accepted as stage 2 or a full stage 3 is likely necessary. Whatever brand you go with, if you want a starting point, get headwork, a cam, and exhaust, then get the efi tuned for those mods, and see if you're satisfied. If not, you should start exploring a different boat (a true mud hull), and go from there. It will depend on the reason you want a surface drive, and if what you get out of the stage 2 is enough to meet your needs. It's an 1860, but it's not a flat, so you'll lose some performance not having a flat bottom. It still may do what you want.
