| Post subject: | Fishing Boat Motor Upgrade |
Currently I have a 1436 alumacraft jon boat with a 11hp mudskipper twister motor. I have been using it for a while and average about 12 miles per hour with two people and fishing gear. I am wanting to upgrade to a bigger motor I am torn between a longtail or surface drive. I mainly use the motor to go through shallow water, mud flats for bow fishing, and dense vegetation here in the piedmont of North Carolina. I want to upgrade because I am going to start taking it to the Pungo river near the coast and maybe Santee Cooper. I need a motor that can make it back to marina faster if a storm comes up. I don't duck hunt so mainly it's usually just me, sometimes one of the person, and some fishing gear. |

You won't see a single mud motor on the pungo for a reason. Run an outboard or get a tunnel hull. Heck, most everyone there runs a 20ft Carolina skiff with a 150 on it and covers those waters well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
