That piston in the pick isn't shaved much if any at all.. The amount shaved all depends on the additional length in the connecting rods.. Just shaving the top of the piston won't do anything for you but decrease your squish factor |

The reason for the question is this: I sold my pistons and .120 over rods to a MMT member. I had inspected the pistons and rods form cracks and damage but I never though about measuring them. A few day ago I found a picture of some stock pistons and from what I remember my pistons did not look much different than stock. I would think that a shaved stock piston would have .060 or more shaved so I am trying to make sure that the pistons I sold are no going to damage another mans motor. I was really hopping that the stock vs. shaved stock pistons would have a noticeable difference in them so I can feel more comfortable. The buyer is going to measure his stock pistons vs. what I sold him in a few days so we should know something soon. thanks for the replies. |

To put in the 120 rods I shaved .1 off of my pistons. If you put them side by side with a stock piston you can tell them apart very easy. chris |

You should be able to see the difference between stock and machined.. On another note, it's not enough to just mill .100 off the top of the piston when going with .100+ longer rods.. It's a combination of milling the skirts as well as the top.. You want to take as much dish out of the piston so you can increase your squish but you also have to skirt them in order to have proper clearance with the longer rods.. |
